Piano Regulation
This is the adjustment of different moving parts in the action of the piano. It is due to weather changes or wear.
Piano Tuning
This is the leading service of any piano work. It is the modification of the tension of every string, one at a time, in order to provide a pleasing sound to the ear. A piano becomes out of tune mainly because changes in the weather influence the moisture content of the sound board. This in turn affects the string tension.
Piano Repair
This includes any type of repair work, such as broken strings, keys, action parts etc…

Another aspect of piano maintenance is professional cleaning. Not only does the result please the eye, but the different moving parts certainly benefit from it as well. Results may vary depending on condition of piano.

Hello, my name is Alan Clivaz and I am a piano
tuner / technician serving the west suburbs of Chicago (Woodridge, Downers Grove, Naperville, Westmont, Lisle, etc.). I have practiced the trade since 1998, working for eight years as a floor tuner for the Steinway dealer of Burr Ridge / Downers Grove. I service pianos in schools, churches, and private homes. My goal is to give you the best piano service quality for your money! I believe that a friendly working relationship with my clients is vital, and I am always willing to put in extra time and effort to ensure they are happy with the results. I have solely relied on word of mouth as my form of advertisement up to this point, and I have been able to grow my client base to several hundred customers. I am now looking to expand my business and reach a larger number of potential clients.

Alan came highly recommended to us from the place we purchased our piano, in 2006. He came to our home, and not only worked on our piano, but educated me in its best care.
We moved away for awhile and our piano went into storage. A few years passed, and we returned...and I knew I had to find Alan to get the piano back into tip top shape. I was thrilled to find him again, and for the past 10 years he has taken excellent care of it. He has always been great about giving me an appointment reminder (and being very understanding when I have to reschedule!), always prompt, courteous, and very professional and highly skilled.
My favorite part of the visit, admittedly, is at the very end...he often plays a song to finalize his tuning. And I could honestly listen to him play all day!
You can't go wrong by your piano in having Alan care for it!

Alan is the BEST in the business. He has been tuning my piano for 14 years, and has kept it in incredible playing condition. He goes above and beyond in his knowledge and love for this instrument, and shares that with his clients. At the end of a tuning, he plays for a minute or so, to test the piano, and I could listen to him play all day long! We've shared stories of our children as they have grown and he has become a friend. We have held fundraisers in our neighborhood for several ill children, and Alan has always donated his services to our silent auctions and even attended one of the events with his family. In this strange pandemic time, Alan had to reschedule our appointment to a more safe time, following the states regulations to the letter. I appreciated that while I'm sure he would've liked the jobs and the money, he adhered to guidelines and kept himself and his clients safe, first and foremost. He just came today for our appointment and was incredibly prepared for safety - his AND mine, with a N95-type mask, gloves, cleaned down my keys when he was finished, and was very alert to all precautions, which I appreciated. He offers an exceptional service at a most fair and tremendous value, and is a complete joy to work with. I highly recommend Alan to you for all of your piano tuning/adjustment/purchasing needs.

I cannot say enough good things about Alan Piano Service. Alan Clivaz has been tuning my piano for the past 9 years. He is always very professional, prompt, courteous, accurate and thorough. He also helped advise me on buying a piano, for no charge.
During the current pandemic, he came to my house very prepared -- with gloves & a high grade face mask. He was careful to maintain a 6 foot distance from me at all times.
He is also very kind & has a high level of integrity. During the pandemic, he did not work when it was not deemed safe to do so, even though many other piano tuners were still working, contrary to guidelines. It is possible that you could find another piano tuner with his level of precision and professionalism. However, it is highly unlikely that you would find another with his level of integrity.
